it is possibly technically true that obi-wan did not, personally, himself, ever own a droid. notice he doesn’t say that he doesn’t know Artoo, just that he doesn’t recall (shifty word) ever owning a (indefinite article) droid. what droid? any droid.  that is exactly the type of lie he specialized in.

#luke was important because victims often receive this treatment #that they cannot be angry or such without it being perceived as proof that they are in fact the same as the people who are hurting them #it was important that… he should’ve gone down a hero in spite of everything #that in spite of bad things happening to a victim, he is allowed to break from the cycle
