My brain during sane hours of the day: “I have a good job with benefits, a stable social network with supportive friends and family, and I’m a nerd who thrives on advanced technology. Also, I dislike the taste of fish.”
My brain on Tumblr at 3:30am: “Y’know, abandoning all technology and leaving civilization behind looks like a lot of fun! And I could teach the kids how to build a fish trap!”
everything is disjointed. the colors are never the same. smoke weaves in and out and smothers colors while birthing new ones. early fall colors are showing up. brought on by drought and cold nights. I haven’t quite caught up to summer yet. I’ve been trying to post for a week but everything is fighting everything. some nights its dark green and brown, and some red. and some gold and soft blues. I’m spending too much time looking in the ditches and the sun melts into smoke while I contemplate grasses.
this is so magical, it looks like little plants begin to grow and thrive at the bottom
this is a very common thing for mosses!! they’ve made themselves so resistant to water loss that they can squeeze out all intercellular water in the dry season, hang out like that for months or however long it takes for water to come back to their environment, and then ‘wake up’ when they can replenish their cells and resume photosynthesis!! a fun thing to try is to dry out a moss and then drip water on it and watch it come back to life!!
