I can’t be the only person who thinks that this song – while being one of the most beautiful ones in the OST – sounds IMMENSELY melancholy?

#this is not gonna make a whole lot of sense and might not be a thing that needs to be said #but there’s something i’ve never been able to accept in tumblr’s whole idea of woman kings and the discussion surrounding that archetypeit’s so remote you guys #it’s so grand and sexual and gilded and steeped in wealth and culture and power #and so tied into beauty and regality and trumpets and trains and armies #and as soon as it gets that remote and stylized and buffed and perfected i flatline so hard so fast #because my feelings about the idea of a woman king are wrapped up in my feelings for this song #this simple country jangling muddy dirt road of a song #because in these stories these kings don’t get muddy #they ride sidesaddle or they don’t ride at all #there’s an idea out there of women in power as women having all the class and wealth and beauty of power #and class and wealth and beauty are never gonna be something i’m gonna attach myself to all that well #if you’re gonna reinvent the archetype really reinvent it #put your muddy king on a muddy brokedown walleyed horse and give her a broken sword and see how far she goes
