Didn’t get to finish the livestream, but here’s a super quick sketch of a part I really enjoyed
They tried to trick Jester out of eating her weight in pastries every day, instead she just became the strongest of the Mighty Nein

Jester : 0 : Fool : Beginnings, Spontaneity, Free Spirit
I think one of my favorite things about Jester is how completely nonchalant she is in her interactions with her deity, the Traveler (who, Matt’s confirmed, isn’t the canonical D&D deity by the same name). Like, shit’s kicking off with zombies in the middle of a circus and what she yells is, word-for-word, “DUDE ARE YOU HERE BECAUSE THIS IS LIKE THE COOLEST SHIT WE’VE EVER SEEN.” She gets a sense of approval from meticulously putting all the books in a bookstore into complete disarray.
She draws him sketches about her day, mostly consisting of things she thinks were particularly entertaining or cartoonish versions of actual scary stuff.
He messes with her by making her see Beau’s injury as worse than it is and her response is just to laugh and go, “Motherfucker, he’s such a dick!” And she just seems to totally expect everyone else to be on the same wavelength about it, like when she warns Nott not to steal her holy symbol or “he’ll get mad”, and everyone goes “…he?” and she goes, matter-of-factly, “Yeah!”
It’s a really weird and incredibly entertaining cleric-deity relationship! I am so excited to see where it goes!
Look I know it’s easy to see Jester’s remarks and be just as annoyed as Caleb but please consider that the girl literally lived her life in a gilded cage where her mother seemingly didn’t even want her and her only apparent friend and comfort was a trickster god. She has no idea how real life works or how hard it is to make a living if your mom isn’t a celebrated courtesan. I get the feeling she was more or less disowned/kicked out with a handful of money and doesn’t even realize it honestly. Molly’s compassion and life lesson is super important because her blind optimism will be tested again and again and she can’t hold that false front up forever.
this is the “real” cover of TUSK LOVE according to Jester
