Playlists for Writing & Roleplay

scrptrx:

Listen on Spotify or Spotify Web Player

Music to write, roleplay, or study to! These playlists are works in progress and are continuously growing and improving. Titled after like-themed action movie and game music, the playlists each have their own personality, and encourage different moods or activity levels. Most music is from soundtracks. The calmest playlists, Temple Ruins and Party Camp, are useful for getting into the mood. This music is less distracting. Once your pace is set, or if you want to get in the mood for an action scene, Underworld or Boss Fight are the playlists for you. Tavern Nights is what it sounds like, full of highs and lows but can be distracting. Field Music is right in the middle, with lots of color.

All playlists are available to follow on Spotify, and can also be accessed via the web player with a free Spotify account. Just click on the [listen] for the link. Please do not hesitate to suggest music/changes to me, either here or on Spotify.

Updated: 3/19/17 – New playlist “Into Battle” features a highly dynamic range between “Field Music” and “Boss Fight” and moods for rallying the troops and preparing for war. In addition, the older playlists have been added to.

Curator Note: Thank you all so much for all the reblogs. This post now has 40k notes, and the older playlists on Spotify each have between 500 and 2.7k followers. I continually get notifications about activity on this post and am so amazed and happy that people find it so useful!

you’re a space pirate captain but it’s also the 80′s and you’re wearing glam rock trousers and a billowing shirt. Some freaky aliens just boarded your ship but it’s okay because they’re here to party

You’re in a post apocalyptic version of the wild west. You stumble across a dusty townscape and into a saloon bar. You are a black hatted, spurs wearing, gun toting assassin. The chatter goes silent as you darken the doorstep. You sling your electric laser pistol across the bar and demand a whiskey

You study English lit or history at Oxford University. You wear tweed and waistcoats and it’s inexplicably always autumn. Everyone thinks you’re really pretentious but really you’re just trying to get over the death of your best friend who drowned in the river and who you had feelings for but never got to tell them

You are an ageless vampire or maybe a ghost and you spend your days wafting around your castle. You fling yourself down on a red velvet day bed in despair. You’re sad and drinking wine in the dark and you want to wallow for a while to miserable tunes while reading poetry and thinking about your dead lover

It’s 3am and it’s raining and maybe you’re in a car or at a fast food restaurant but nothing seems quite solid. You think perhaps the lady you just spoke to was your guardian angel but maybe she wasn’t even real and maybe you aren’t either

New additions:

You’re a witch who lives in a little hovel in a bog, you make your charms and potions all day and seal them up in jars. The fair folk know who you are but you don’t bother them and they don’t bother you. Occasionally you offer help to a girl who comes to you in need. Sometimes help means a man gets lost in the woods and never comes out again.

It’s summer, you’re bored. You’re young. You have a mouth full of adventure and a heart full of electric want. You need fast fun and silly stunts. Something is going to break this summer, maybe your heart, maybe the weather – the clouds are already on the horizon – but you don’t care because it’s so much fun.
