A Beauty and the Beast AU where Belle realizing she loves Beast isn’t at some dramatic climactic event but during some randome everyday moment. Like, she’s filing her nails and just kinda glances up at him and he’s like doing something just as dull and it just kinda dawns on her that she loves him but she doesn’t voice it cause she isn’t exactly ready to confront thoes emotions and what they mean so she goes back to filing her nails but then is starts raining glitter and Beast is defying gravity in a glowing ball of light and the castle is changing back and everyone becomes human again. Then everyone is left in silent moment of shock and confusion and Belle, being completely unaware of what it takes to break the curse, is just staring around in horror while everyone freshly humanized comes running into whatever room she and Beast were in (probably the library) expecting to see something other than human Beast in a heap on the ground and Belle across the room in a chair frozen in shock and confusion and everyone just kinda looks at each other for a couple of seconds not realy sure what to say cause nobody is entirely sure what happened other than the curse was broken. Then Beast finaly gets up and looks around and realizes what this means and looks at Belle and is just like “you love me?” And Belle is just like “wat?”
ALTERNATELY: Belle falls in love slowly. As a result, Beast turns back into a human slowly. She overhears him singing in the shower (it’s amazing how old pipes echo) and realizes it’s that song she was trying to teach herself on the piano (okay, that the piano was teaching her). It’s sweet and mundane, and lovely. Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Beast is humming nervously as he looks at the fur clogging the drain. He thought at least he’d be free of male pattern balding since he’s cursed! Later, Belle gets a cold, and Beast brings her soup and sandwiches, and she curses at him because how dare he have such a hearty immune system, and he chuckles and leaves it. After he’s gone, she notices he cut the grilled cheese on the diagonal, crusts off, exactly right. Beast, downstairs, trips and falls, because the sudden lack of toe-claws threw off his balance.
And so on and so forth, so slowly she doesn’t really see it, she just assumes her memories were colored by her fear. Until one day, as he goes out to tend his roses, she yells “Bye, love you!” and when he comes back in, all excited, she nearly beans him with an encyclopedia, because “WHAT THE FUCK, WHO ARE YOU?” and Beast is just “You seriously didn’t notice me turning back into a human? You are so smart… and SO DUMB, I BEEN NEARLY DYING EVERY TIME, WHY DO I LOVE YOU, YOU BEAUTIFUL DISASTER WOMAN!”
And Belle goes “…what?”

why this dog look like an nvidia tech demo
High spec animal
Oh, I KNOW WHY! Rare video game tech knowledge to the rescue!
Animation of fur is really really hard, it’s effectively trying to animate, in real time, a few billion little strings. Noone can do that. Most consumer gaming computers would just burst into flame so that isn’t something people will do when modeling fur or hair. Instead, what animators and 3D modelers do in order to get around this is they form the fur into many layers of sheets or interlocking flexible bodies. Notice this animal has stiff fur, matted maybe from sweat or water. So when we watch the fur move our eyes and brains notice something we don’t notice on purpose. The fur isn’t moving individually, it’s moving in sheets and flexible bodies. There’s some slight movement and flexing, but it’s not “fur” like our brains want it to be, it’s “fur” in the way that fur is commonly animated! layers and flexible sheets! Also, light angles like this are common in animation to show the light being calculated across the body when it moves, so it looks familiar in the angle of the light too!
BLESS YOU
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten such an excited happy reply to an info dump hehehe
oh cool i found someone explaining the thing
Distant lights of Hateno village
ok you know what tahani is more fucking valid than anyone because she never wanted anything that wasn’t 100% justified
her parents treated her like garbage and she only comes across as full of herself because literally not a single one of her achievements was ever fucking recognized by anyone around her, least of all the two people whos opinion she actually cared about, her parents
nothing she wanted ever was detrimental to any other person in any way
it wasn’t about making everyone around her think she was a saint, she just wanted to do something that would finally be seen as enough
it wasnt even about outdoing her sister it was just about being recognized for her accomplishments in her own right
so dont sit there with this she was doing good things with bad intentions stuff
she was doing good things for her own reasons, and it wasnt about the magnanimity of helping people, but that doesn’t make her motivations bad objectively
and like her final test to see whether she was a good person was to walk down that hallway lined with rooms where people were gossiping about her
and she passed by aaalll the doors of aaall the famous people and socialites that she talks about all the time and the one room she finally did stop at was her parents!
there’s nothing vain about desiring approval from your parents! she just wanted acknowledgment. from her parents. there’s no fucking realm of reality where you can frame that as vain! she wanted her parents not to treat her like complete fucking garbage for one goddamn second.
like having bad parents is a bad enough environment to grow up in but having them treat you so unjustly your whole life while watching that so completely opposite and juxtaposed with the way they treat your only other sibling. thats so horrible.
and tahani stopping to get some closure on that CANNOT be termed selfish. theres just no fuckin way
This is the point of the series. The “good/bad place” system is built on Kantian absolutism and a complete rejection of anything even remotely near moral dessert, but the fact that it qualifies *as* a very clear and obvious moral dessert completely invalidates the moral logic underlying the selection system. Which is *why* Chidi’s wide-ranging philosophical lessons lead the characters into contradictions within the framework. Even Michael can’t deal with the “good/bad” paradigm’s rules in the face of something as “simple” as the trolley problem.
Michael’s experiment exposed the fundamental flaw in the system.
