things i love about horizon: zero dawn;

it’s a game that shows a female protagonist in frequent high stakes danger without the villains ever once resorting to threats or implications of sexual violence. it includes many female characters who’ve suffered in the past from all manner of traumatic experiences, and the writers never use rape for a lazily implemented plot device as if it’s the only way to write women with complexity. instead, they took the time to write women with tragedies in their past that are unique, varied, and revolve around their own character development rather than being solely about the development of male characters around them.

tl;dr: hzd doesn’t exploit or abuse women’s bodies the way so many other games & media do and i really appreciate that.
