Writers’ ask meme: 4 and 8!

How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?

Oh, gosh… I’ve got a good few always on the run – but actively nurturing? That’s… only a few… It’s bad, but I flitter to newer and funner ideas, towards the shiny new ones. That said, the one that isn’t an rp that I keep trying to get down is a Voltron horror rated M for Mature by the esrb ;P – the gang ends up on a derelict space station and obviously, things go terribly wrong.

Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

Favourite dialogue? Oh, man. I need to go searching through my old writing, give me a bit…

There’s nothing that like, I’m over the moon excited about but here’s something that I still like, looking back on:

“Well?” I asked. “Say something.”

Marco made an aborted motion to touch my shoulder. “I’m… I don’t know what to say. I’m sorry?”

I threw my head back. “Wow. Okay.”

His hand went back to his neck. “I get it.” He looked at me and I had the courage to look back. “I really think I do.”

I believed him. “…Yeah.”

Marco started picking at a loose thread on a cushion. “Do you…” He trailed off, but I didn’t have the guts to guess and fill in what he wanted to ask. “Do you…” he started again, “…think you did the right thing?”

I squeezed my eyes shut. “God, I don’t know, Marco. I don’t know.” I rubbed my forehead. “No. Obviously not.”

I don’t know why I like it – it just seems solid. I like the feeling I was able to put in there about both the words and the physicality of it shows what mood they’re in. When I can get both things working, I just feel like the dialogue works better.
